Exhumed es una banda estadounidense de death metal procedente de San Jose, California. Formada en 1990 por el quinceañero Matt Harvey, el único miembro restante desde la formación original, la banda pasó gran parte de la década siguiente grabando demos, CD divididos y EPs. Su álbum debut, "Gore Metal", lanzado en 1998, fue un punto de inflexión para el género, definiendo una fusión de death metal old-school y grindcore que ya había surgido durante las grabaciones de su último demo ("Horrific Expulsion of Gore") y su primer CD dividido ("In the Name of Gore"). El álbum recibió críticas mixtas pero consolidó la posición de Exhumed en la escena del metal underground. A lo largo de los años, la banda ha seguido grabando álbumes y haciendo giras, manteniendo un sonido brutal y agresivo que ha influenciado a numerosas otras bandas del género.
