Tuomas Lauri Johannes Holopainen (nato il 26 gennaio 1973) è un musicista finlandese di fama internazionale, noto soprattutto come tastierista, compositore e cofondatore del gruppo musicale symphonic metal Nightwish. Holopainen ha iniziato a comporre musica sin da giovane, influenzato da artisti classici come Bach e Beethoven. Nel 1996, insieme a Tarja Turunen (voce), Emppu Vuorinen (chitarra) e Jukka Nevalainen (batteria), fondò Nightwish, con cui ha pubblicato dieci album in studio di grande successo internazionale. Holopainen è noto per le sue melodie epico-drammatiche, spesso ispirate a temi fantasy e mitologici, che hanno contribuito a definire il sound distintivo del symphonic metal. Oltre al lavoro con Nightwish, Holopainen ha collaborato con altri artisti finlandesi e internazionali, come la cantante operistica Johanna Kurkela e il gruppo folk-metal Korpiklaani.
