Running Wild es una histórica banda alemana de heavy metal formada en Hamburgo en 1976. Considerados pioneros del género "pirate metal", introdujeron el tema pirata a la música heavy metal con el álbum *Under Jolly Roger* (1987), abandonando los temas satánicos presentes en sus primeros trabajos. El guitarrista Preacher (Gerald Warnecke) fue un elemento clave en las primeras etapas de la banda, pero ahora es un vicario en Colonia. Running Wild ha hecho una contribución significativa a la escena del heavy metal alemán de la década de 1980, influenciando a numerosas bandas posteriores.
