Mary Chapin Carpenter es una cantautora y guitarrista estadounidense nacida en 1958 en Princeton, Nueva Jersey. Conocida por su composición introspectiva y su voz cálida y reconfortante, alcanzó un gran éxito en la década de 1990 con álbumes como "Time*Sex*Love" (1992) y "Stones in the Road" (1994). Carpenter ha sido nominada cinco veces a los premios Grammy, ganando el premio a la mejor interpretación vocal femenina de country en 1993 por el tema "He Thinks He'll Keep Her".
