Audioslave fue una banda de rock formada en 2000 a partir de los restos de Rage Against the Machine (Tom Morello, Tim Commerford y Brad Wilk), quienes se unieron al vocalista Chris Cornell, ex de Soundgarden. Su sonido se desvió del enojo políticamente cargado de RATM, abrazando un rock más melódico e introspectivo influenciado por el trabajo de Cornell con Soundgarden. Su álbum debut homónimo en 2002 encabezó las listas de éxitos estadounidenses y los consolidó como una fuerza importante en la música.
