Sea Wolf es el proyecto musical de Alex Brown Church, un cantautor indie rock originario de Los Ángeles, California. Después de asistir a la escuela de cine de la NYU, Church fundó el grupo Irving en 1998. Muchas de las canciones que escribió durante este período no encajaban con el estilo del grupo, por lo que comenzó a actuar como Sea Wolf con un conjunto rotativo de músicos de apoyo, tocando localmente en Los Ángeles y grabando demos en Seattle con el productor Phil Ek (Band of Horses, The Shins, Fleet Foxes). En 2007, firmó con Dangerbird Records, lanzando el EP *Get To The River Before It Runs Too Low* y el álbum completo *Leaves In The River*, que alcanzó el puesto número 24 en la lista Billboard Heatseekers. Algunos de los temas más representativos de Sea Wolf son *You're a Wolf*, *The Violet Hour* y *Broken City*.
