Keep of Kalessin es una banda noruega de metal extremo procedente de Trondheim, formada en 1993. A lo largo de su historia, el grupo ha tenido varias formaciones. La formación original estaba compuesta por Ghash a las voces, Obsidian C. a las guitarras y teclados, Warach al bajo y Vyl a la batería. Durante este periodo lanzaron dos álbumes: *Through Times of War* (1997) y *Agnen: A Journey Through the Dark* (1999), antes de disolverse. Obsidian C. luego hizo giras con Satyricon, pero revivió el nombre Keep of Kalessin para un EP de 2003, *Reclaim*. En 2006 reconstituyó el grupo con una nueva formación y lanzó un tercer álbum completo, *Armada*. Hicieron giras con Behemoth y Dimmu Borgir a principios de 2008. Su cuarto álbum, *Kolossus*, se publicó el 6 de junio de 2008. El nombre de la banda deriva de la serie de libros *Earthsea* de Ursula K. Le Guin, donde Kalessin es el nombre del archidragón que lleva el mundo de Earthsea.
