Pantera è stata una band heavy metal statunitense attiva dal 1981 al 2003. Fondata dai fratelli Vinnie Paul Abbott (batteria) e 'Dimebag' Darrell Abbott (chitarra), la formazione originale comprendeva anche Tommy Bradford (basso), Terry Glaze (voce) e Donnie Hart (chitarra). Dopo una fase iniziale con sonorità più hard rock, Pantera ha abbracciato un sound groove metal più aggressivo a partire dagli anni '90, influenzando profondamente il genere. Tra i brani più rappresentativi figurano "Walk", "Cowboys from Hell" e "Cemetery Gates". L'album "Vulgar Display of Power" (1992) è considerato un capolavoro del genere groove metal.
