Type O Negative è stato un gruppo musicale gothic metal statunitense originario di Brooklyn, New York. Attivo dal 1989 al 2010, il gruppo ha raggiunto una notevole popolarità negli anni '90 grazie al suo sound oscuro e melodico, caratterizzato da riff pesanti, atmosfere cupe e la voce profonda e drammatica del cantante Peter Steele. Tra i brani più rappresentativi figurano «Black No. 1», «Christian Woman» e «Red Water (Christmas Mourning)», quest'ultimo un brano natalizio con una forte carica di ironia e sarcasmo.
