Turisas es una banda finlandesa de folk metal originaria de Hämeenlinna, fundada el 1 de mayo de 1997 por Mathias Nygård y Jussi Wickström. El nombre de la banda deriva de Iku-Turso, un antiguo monstruo de la mitología finlandesa. Inicialmente conocidos como Köyliö, del nombre de una ciudad finlandesa, lanzaron el demo *Taiston Tie* en 1997, ahora agotado. Después del lanzamiento del demo, la banda cambió oficialmente su nombre a Turisas. Su música combina elementos del heavy metal con melodías e instrumentos tradicionales finlandeses, creando un sonido épico y envolvente. Algunos de sus temas más representativos son *Stand Up and Fight*, *The Battle of the Bay*, *To Live Is to Fight* y *End of an Era*. Entre sus álbumes más exitosos se encuentran *The Stand Up and Fight* (2004) y *Battle Metal* (2007). Turisas ha participado en numerosos festivales de música internacionales, consolidando su posición como una de las bandas de folk metal más importantes del panorama musical finlandés.
