Throwing Muses è un gruppo rock alternativo formatosi a Newport, Rhode Island, nel 1981 da Kristin Hersh (voce, chitarra) e Tanya Donelly (chitarra, voce). Dopo l'ingresso di David Narcizo al basso e Michael Mountain alla batteria, la band ha pubblicato il suo album di debutto, *The Real Ramona*, nel 1986. Il loro sound, caratterizzato da riff chitarristici distorti, testi introspettivi e melodie orecchiabili, li ha rapidamente catapultati nell'underground rock americano.
