Tankard es una banda de thrash metal procedente de Fráncfort del Meno, Alemania, fundada en 1982. Después de perder a su guitarrista debido a su imagen como un grupo de borrachos, pasaron a publicar su primer disco en 1986. A partir de ese momento, la banda ha continuado creando canciones y discos en el mismo estilo con el que comenzó: canciones de metal rápido en honor al alcohol. Por lo tanto, afirman haber inventado un nuevo género llamado "alcoholic metal". Tankard se autoproclaman "Rees de la Cerveza" en honor al personaje folclórico Gambrinus. Algunos de sus temas más representativos incluyen *Chemical Invasion*, *Zombie Attack* y *Beer Barrel Polka*.
