The Durutti Column è un gruppo musicale britannico formatosi a Manchester all'inizio del 1978. Il gruppo ruota intorno alla figura del chitarrista e compositore Vini Reilly, noto per il suo stile minimalista e sperimentale che fonde elementi di post-punk, ambient e musica elettronica. Considerati uno dei pionieri dell'elettronica britannica, hanno firmato un contratto con la leggendaria Factory Records di Tony Wilson, diventando parte integrante della scena musicale di Manchester degli anni '80. Il loro sound caratteristico è definito da atmosfere introspettive, melodie ipnotiche e arrangiamenti strumentali complessi che spesso incorporano sintetizzatori, campionamenti e effetti sonori. Tra i brani più rappresentativi si ricordano "The Chameleon", "Sketch for Summer" e "Order of the Day". L'album di debutto "The Return of the Durutti Column" (1980) è considerato un classico del post-punk, mentre "Sex and Death" (1982) ha consolidato la loro reputazione come band innovativa. The Durutti Column continua ad essere attiva fino ai giorni nostri, pubblicando nuovi album e collaborando con artisti di diverse discipline.
