Marvin Gaye, nacido como Marvin Pentz Gay Jr. (Washington D.C., 2 de abril de 1939 – Los Ángeles, 1 de abril de 1984), fue un cantautor, productor discográfico y arreglista estadounidense considerado uno de los artistas más importantes del soul y el R and B. Comenzó su carrera como cantante gospel en la década de 1950, antes de unirse a Motown Records en 1961. Con su suave y melódico estilo vocal, las canciones de Gaye a menudo exploraban temas de amor, guerra, justicia social y luchas personales, resonando con audiencias en todo el mundo.
