Gerry Rafferty (1947-2011) fue un cantautor y guitarrista escocés conocido por su estilo de folk rock influenciado por el blues. Nacido en Paisley, Escocia, Rafferty comenzó su carrera musical en la década de 1960 con los grupos The Humblebums y Stealers Wheel. Con este último, alcanzó el éxito internacional en 1973 con el sencillo "Stuck in the Middle with You", que se convirtió en un clásico del rock. Después de la disolución de Stealers Wheel, Rafferty emprendió una exitosa carrera como solista, lanzando álbumes como "City to City" (1978) y "Right Down the Line" (1980), ambos caracterizados por melodías pegadizas y letras introspectivas. Su canción más famosa es probablemente "Baker Street", un sencillo de 1978 que llegó a la cima de las listas en muchos países gracias también al famoso solo de saxofón. Rafferty continuó grabando música hasta finales de la década de 1990, aunque nunca alcanzó el éxito comercial de sus primeros años. Falleció en 2011 a los 63 años.
