The Outlaws son una banda de southern rock formada en Tampa, Florida, a finales de 1967. Los miembros fundadores fueron el guitarrista y vocalista Hughie Thomasson, el baterista David Dix, el bajista Phil Humberg, los guitarristas Hobie O'Brien y Frank Guidry, y el cantante Herb Pino. Guidry trajo el nombre Outlaws con él cuando se unió al grupo (había estado en otra banda con ese mismo nombre). Antes de la llegada de Guidry, la banda se llamaba The Rogues, luego The Four Letter Words.
