Though the group had already been performing together in their native South Africa for some twenty years, it took Paul Simon’s Grammy-winning 1986 album Graceland to bring international attention to Ladysmith Black Mambazo. As Simon’s backing group on that monumental record, they put the traditional vocal music of the Zulu people in an international spotlight. Now, the gorgeous harmonies of the vocal ensemble are required listening for world music fans. With such success, it's no wonder they've been asked to perform alongside everyone from Nelson Mandela to Dolly Parton and Josh Groban.
