Alanu and Ghijvan Francescu Bernardini grew up in the small village of Tagliu-Isulaccia in the far north of Corsica. Their father was a poet-singer. The "paisanu" of the village remember the brothers perched on makeshift stages singing the traditional polyphonies of their region. At this period, they recorded a few 45rpms with "Cantu U Populu Corsu". They entered that group under their father's request to Ghijvan Paulu Poletti (who began the group). In 1977, their father died, who always dreamed of a free Corsica. The boys saw themselves as singers with a divine purpose of disseminating information concerning their people's cause of a liberated native citizenry, capable of governing themselves, as well as preserving the immense beauty of the island.
